How to Check Your Sephora Gift Card Balance
Four ways to find out what's left on a Sephora gift card or eGift Card — and the card rules most guides leave out.

Short answer: Check a Sephora gift card balance at sephora.com/beauty/giftcards under “Check Balance & Add to Wallet.” You’ll need the 16-digit card number and the PIN. You can also call 1-888-860-7897, ask a Beauty Advisor in any store, or check inside the Sephora app.

What you need before you start
Every balance-check method except the in-store one asks for two things. Both are printed on the card itself — on the back of a physical card, or in the email for an eGift Card.
Method 2: Check online (fastest)
- Go to sephora.com/beauty/giftcards — or sephora.ca if you are in Canada.
- Find the section headed Check Balance & Add to Wallet.
- Enter the 16-digit card number and the PIN.
- Your remaining balance appears on screen. You can add the card to your Sephora wallet at the same time so you do not have to re-enter it at checkout.
If you are already signed in to a Sephora account and have added the card before, skip all of that: your balance sits under Payments & Credits in your account.

Method 3: Check by phone
The automated line reads your balance back to you.
Method 4: Check in a Sephora store
Any Beauty Advisor can look up the balance at the register. Bring the physical card, or pull up the eGift Card email on your phone — the digital version works fine. This is the only method that does not require you to read out the PIN, which makes it the safest option if the scratch panel is damaged or unreadable.
Method 1: Check in the Sephora app
The app carries the same balance checker as the website. Open it, go to the gift card section, and enter the card number and PIN — or view a card you have already saved to your wallet. Saved cards show their current balance without re-entry.
Sephora gift card rules worth knowing
Most guides stop at the balance check. These are the terms that actually catch people out.
- Expiry
- None. Sephora gift cards do not expire.
- Fees
- No fees are charged against an unused balance.
- Where they work
- Sephora stores in the US and Canada, sephora.com, sephora.ca, the Sephora app, and Sephora at Kohl's locations.
- Store credit is different
- A store merchandise credit is not a gift card — it can only be used in physical stores, not online.
- Reloading
- Only at Sephora retail locations, and only if the card was bought from Sephora directly. eGift Cards and cards bought from other retailers cannot be topped up.
- Lost or stolen
- Not replaced. Sephora states the value will not be restored if a card is lost, stolen, altered, destroyed, or used without authorisation.
That last one is the reason to check your balance through official channels only, and to treat the card like cash.
Avoid fake balance-check sites
A card number plus its PIN is everything needed to spend the card. There is no password, no account, no verification step. Anyone who collects those two fields can drain the balance in minutes, and because a stolen balance is not replaced, the money is simply gone.
Search results for gift card balance queries are full of look-alike pages that host their own entry form. A legitimate guide — this one included — sends you to the retailer's own site to type those digits. If a page asks you to enter the number and PIN on that page, close it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I check a Sephora gift card balance without the PIN?
Not online or by phone — both require it. Take the card into a Sephora store and a Beauty Advisor can look up the balance for you instead.
Do Sephora gift cards expire?
No. They carry no expiry date and no fees are deducted from an unused balance.
Can I use a Sephora gift card at Kohl's?
Yes, at Sephora at Kohl's locations. A Kohl's gift card is a separate product and will not work the same way.
Can I combine two Sephora gift cards on one order?
Yes. Add each card to your Sephora wallet and apply them at checkout; the order draws from the balances available.
Can I add money to a Sephora gift card?
Only in a Sephora store, and only for cards originally bought from Sephora. eGift Cards and cards bought at other retailers cannot be reloaded.
What happens if I lose my Sephora gift card?
The balance is not replaced. Registering the card to your Sephora account and keeping a photo of the number is the only practical protection.
