How to Check Your DSW Gift Card Balance

What you need before you start
Every balance-check method except the in-store one asks for two things. Both are printed on the card itself — on the back of a physical card, or in the email for an eGift Card.
Method 1: Check online (fastest)
- Go to giftcards.dsw.com/checkbalance.
- Enter your gift card number.
- Enter the PIN from the back of the card.
- Your remaining balance appears on screen.
That balance checker sits on DSW's own gift card subdomain, giftcards.dsw.com. If a page offering a DSW balance check is on any other domain, it is not DSW.

Method 2: Check by phone
The automated line reads your balance back to you.
Method 3: Check in a DSW store
Any DSW store in the US can check the balance at the register. Bring the physical card or the eGift card email.
DSW gift card rules worth knowing
Most guides stop at the balance check. These are the terms that actually catch people out.

- None. DSW states the card has no expiration date.

- DSW Canada stores and dswcanada.ca. A US DSW card is not valid there.
- Merchandise only
- The card is redeemable for merchandise only and cannot be used to buy another gift card.

- Not redeemable for cash except where law requires it.
- Lost or stolen
- Not replaced without the original sales receipt — so keep it.

- Brand Card Services, LLC, rather than DSW directly.
The Canada exclusion is the one that surprises people, especially near the border. A card bought in the US stays in the US.
Avoid fake balance-check sites
A card number plus its PIN is everything needed to spend the card. There is no password, no account, no verification step. Anyone who collects those two fields can drain the balance in minutes, and because a stolen balance is not replaced, the money is simply gone.
Search results for gift card balance queries are full of look-alike pages that host their own entry form. A legitimate guide — this one included — sends you to the retailer's own site to type those digits. If a page asks you to enter the number and PIN on that page, close it.
